HOMESCHOOLING CAREER CO-OP
What makes us different as a co-op? Glad you asked!! Our primary goal is to help your child explore discover their career and calling, but in a fun way! One stat I heard was that 70% of college students end up working in a career unrelated to their major 10 years later. That tells me that, at some point, we are completely missing it! We are out to change this stat at our CAREER CO-OP!
High School Case Study
Two of our students were interested in finances and, after meeting with and shadowing numerous professionals in the field, decided to focus on real estate investing. In order to confirm this choice, one of the students shadowed both Stephanie Ryder and Nathan Rose.
Eventually, we decided that Nathan Rose would serve as mentor. The students began by mapping out this area, while driving and recording the addresses of possible investment properties. Students then returned to school to research and find the owners of the selected homes and gather contact information. Next, the students began making calls to the owner. Although I made the first few calls to teach the students how to do it, eventually they were changing to make their own calls. If the owner was willing to sell, the students planned a meeting at the house with a general contractor.
At the end of May, the students presented their work to a group of about 25 students and adults. The fantastic presentation included a sales script, a map showing the areas where they had searched, and a color-coded spreadsheet with houses of interest.

Scooby is very artistic and loves cars, but he also enjoys photography. We went and visited an auto body repair shop owner in Sulphur and Scooby loved it! And we still trying to find a time when Scooby can shadow at the auto body shop. In regards to photography, Scooby helped on of our student business owners out by editing and improving the pictures on the student’s website. And Scooby love it when Leroy Tademy from Tademy Photography came and spoke to our students and judged a student photo contest!
Last, Scooby designed and created some vinyl signs which he sold at a vendor booth at the Sale Street Baptist Church car show.
Why Brad Moore?
Discovering your place in the world is no small feat! It took me half a century to find my purpose. I know the uncertainty and confusion that comes with it, and my journey enables me to empathize with students who are trying to figure it out.
I also had a God-dream involving a former classmate from LaGrange High School. In the CliffsNotes version of the dream, I knew God was saying that it’s super important for students to discover their unique calling. Otherwise, I knew from my dream that the student would struggle with both their identity and their relationships.
I am a 4th-generation educator. My dad, Dr. David Moore, was the first principal at Hamilton Christian Academy. I also taught Bible, algebra I, and coached the first-ever boy’s basketball team at Hamilton.
But my child doesn't have any interests or has too many interests?
Then he or she is perfect for the program! But it's important to take the initiative and start now. Even if a student starts exploring the “wrong” career then they will quickly learn and can shift to something else.
Where did this idea come from?
A friend of mine, Ryan Thibodeaux, introduced me to an innovative educational approach known as Big Picture Learning. Their network of schools now includes over 275 schools worldwide. While I may not align completely with all of their beliefs, their central philosophy - encouraging students to pursue their interests and life’s calling - resonates deeply with me. And when students are excited about and engaged in what they are learning, they simply learn more quickly and learning becomes fun!
Learn to give effective presentations
At least 3 times during the school year, the student makes a presentation on what they are learning. New students who are new to public speaking often will read a handwritten report. As students become more comfortable, however, we challenge them to do the presentation with notecards, rather than reading it. Because some students have given multiple presentations for several years, they can now do it with only a few notes and, at the same time, do a great job. I have an old friend who was an operator at the plants who never could get promoted until he took and mastered a public speaking class.
Upon graduation, many of our students will have done 10-14 significant presentations and will not need to wait for a promotion! One year, one of our student’s final presentations was at the McNeese Business Pitch Competition, where he won the competition along with $5000!
Details, details..
The program includes personalized internships or projects for junior high and high school students based on your child's interests and calling. We meet at Christ Community Church from 9:00 to 11:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year.
Students will discover their interests, find an internship or project after visiting with and shadowing business professionals, do real work in the real world, complete career coaching assessments & exercises, and hear presentations from business professionals. And for those who choose the premium option, students will learn and gain confidence in public speaking. As a BONUS and for those who are interested, students will hear from top Christian leaders about hearing God's voice and developing an identity firmly rooted in Christ.
We also offer a money-back guarantee. Moreover, a student can STOP doing co-op at any time!
PLEASE SIGN UP NOW BY TEXTING OR CALLING 337-912-8319
BONUS: Devotion with top speakers and ministry leaders
As a bonus but very important bonus, we are including a bi-weekly devotional period on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. One of our primary goals during our devotional time is teaching the students about their identity . Once a student knows who they are in Christ, everything seems to fall into place much easier. I, along with other speakers, can frequently be heard saying the following:
God has an incredible, significant, and unique plan for your life
As you grow in your faith and When you discover all that God intended you to be, you will NEVER want to be anyone else
With God, all things are possible
God did not give us a spirit of fear (which can sometimes prevent us from moving forward)
Besides this, we often have guest speakers lead our devotionals. In the past, we had Dr. Cathy Banks from Living Word Christian Center, Eunice Mayo from One Way Youth Ministries, and former youth pastor Steve Ramsey, Andrew Eastman, and George Rodriguez of the Vineyard Church..
