MY JOURNEY

I come from a family of educators. My dad was a high school football coach at Lake Charles High and later the first principal at Hamilton Christian Academy. My mom and sister also taught math at both McNeese and Hamilton Christian. I obtained a mathematics degree from McNeese and then took enough education courses to be able to teach math. At that particular time, however, I only taught physical education and coached the Hamilton Warriors basketball team. I soon developed a keen interest in psychology, wanting to understand myself and others better. I graduated in 1993 with my master's degree in psychology and worked in the field for 5 years until God interrupted. After a patient with a serious mental illness turned to the Lord, I knew I wanted to know more about how God could change a life. So I left Lake Charles and went to seminary in New Orleans. There, I obtained a master's degree in Christian education. After working as a Dave Ramsey external financial coach for nearly a decade, Wayne Mcentyre asked to teach some classes at Hamilton (again). I gradually came to a knowing that God now wanted me back in education. Since that day I have never looked back and I am incredibly passionate about helping students discover their gifts, work thru any personal issues, and discover specifically what God created them for.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
